Something about seeing A Little Life under a ‘coquette’ sign with a pink bow took me out and i genuinely had to take a moment

I never would've expected to see a coquette section in a bookstore, oh my god. As someone who's seen the rise of it on Tumblr, this is so wild. You reminded me of something I overheard yesterday as I was walking through a library: this girl was telling her friends that she didn't have enough books in her "purple section" and needed to find more shades of purple!

Love, love, love the last sentence! "And, sometimes, if you came across the right bookshelf, you didn’t find a particular kind of person or the blunt outline of one, but the person themself." This is what I hope to achieve with my own bookshelves.

Thanks so much for reading! I saw a “red” section of books in a bookstore two days ago and it made me think we are heading down the direction of people picking books purely based on their aesthetic!

that is SUCH a fit omg.

Now I'm worried what my favorite genres (siblings in crisis, marriages in crisis, Catholic family dramas) say about me...

Congrats on meeting Patti!

Definitely been seeing global luxury brands dipping into the publishing space more and more, though typically it's been one-off "zines" you can buy at a high markup or gratis brand magazine/catalogues that SAs give to customers in their portfolios. These always struck me as vanity projects or like, uni alumni magazines (that exist to generate donor revenue). The Bottega Veneta funded reboot of BUTT is really good though. 032c and SSENSE also interesting cases.
