Sobriety is no cakewalk! I've got 4+ years under my belt (recovering alcoholic). Absolutely the hardest part is dealing with hard emotions without a substance. Hesitant to say the usual "I'm proud of you" bc I don't want it to come off poorly since idk how you really feel about it compared to how I feel about my sobriety, but if it's a sentiment you welcome, then I mean it. You're strong. Wishing you health and happiness in the future, whatever that may mean 💞
Okay I’m obessed with a few things here. 1) my fav Charli line as the subject line 2) this beautifully written exploration on partying and Charli (thank you for so much honesty about your physical recovery - I’ve hid a lot of pain for the sake of the party before too) 3) this line: I usually have an answer for everything and, 4) You got to work on the music video. Absolutely loved this piece!
thank you for reading!!! i believe in party 4 u supremacy!!!! and the 360 music video shoot was so fun — shoutout to the director aidan and charli, they ATE that!
Thank you for writing about the complex feelings that come with getting sober and being in pain. Your description of the fine line between pleasure and pain is very powerful; phenomenal writing! Intangible feelings are hard to put into words, and you’ve accomplished this task beautifully through your tribute to Charlie’s art. I’m sorry for your injury and the pain that you endured in the past. I think lots of people often try to hide or to mask their pain, or they’ll try to numb it out with drugs and alcohol. You wrote about this paradox with superb clarity and brilliance. I got sober a few years back too. Sobriety is no small thing imo, and it’s harder than many people realize. Cheers to you being sober! It’s cool that you’re sober; it’s a testament to your strength, courage, and love.
thank you so much for reading and for sharing a bit about your journey too. in a strange way, writing and publishing this was a way for me to (hopefully) put an end to the recovery journey but also be more open about the past year. i appreciate your works 🪽
