really loved this read!! makes me wonder how the patriarchy, capitalism and intersectional feminism influence this. is capitalism exploiting modern intersectionalist movements that encourage men to be free(er) from traditional hyper-masculinity, and how will this go on to affect our modern understanding of what it means to β€œbe a man”?

thanks so much for reading and weighing in. i love your perspective. it makes me think that perhaps one of the privileges of masculinity is being able to tap into more traditional qualities of marginalized groups (women, queer people) for capital gain and attention without actually forfeiting anything.

this is so interesting! the way this piece feels like reading a flipped "The Beauty Myth" by Naomi Wolf is going to keep me thinking about this for a long time. I think, too, this phenomenon ur describing can explain the prevalence of the Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate type men who blame women for this transposing of expectations of being delicate and beautiful to them.

I gotta read the Naomi Wolf reference. I saw her speak a few months ago and was so fascinated.
